The Collaboration

A bit about Joe Hecker

Joe Hecker has taught literature, creative writing, and argumentative writing in public high schools for 33 years. During that time, he has also been writing poetry, short stories, longer works of fiction, and essays. He rarely sent his work out—teaching is demanding, and after reading and responding to stacks of student essays, Hecker typically chose to return to his own reading and writing rather than the arduous and often unrewarding task of soliciting attention for his work.

Now, in retirement, Hecker has decided to organize, polish, and share what he has written.
He has also recently discovered the peculiar art of writing about himself in the third person.
